What is a Taft-Hartley?

Modified on Tue, 30 Jun at 1:16 PM

A SAG-AFTRA Taft-Hartley is a form filled out by casting that allows a Non-SAG-AFTRA performer to work as a SAG-AFTRA member for the date of the shoot.

To process the form through SAG-AFTRA, the background performer's social security number and address is required, and will be requested prior to the shoot date.

For minor's, their date of birth is also required. If a background performer has worked under a "Taft-Hartley" three times, they are eligible to join the union.

Please note, a Taft Hartley is sometimes referred to as a "waiver". "Waiver" is not the accurate term.
