How much do background actors get paid?

Modified on Sat, 4 Jul at 12:11 PM

Pay rates vary depending on the production, your role, your union status and any additional compensation you may receive.

  • SAG-AFTRA performers are paid according to the current union contract and negotiated rates.
  • Non-union performers are generally paid according to the production's established rate, which must meet or exceed applicable federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.

If your role has special requirements - such as using your personal vehicle, wearing specialty wardrobe, working with special skills, or other production specific needs - you may receive additional compensation (commonly referred to as a bump).

Your rate of pay will always be listed in your booking information before you report to set.
