How long does a filming day last?

Modified on Sat, 4 Jul at 11:47 AM

Every production is different so there is no guaranteed length for a filming day.

Most filming days last 8 - 12 hours, but it's not uncommon for the day to extend to 12 - 15 hours or longer depending on the needs of production.

Your filming day may be scheduled as:

  • Day Shoot: filming takes place primarily during daytime hours.
  • Night Shoot: filming begins in the late afternoon or evening and continues overnight.
  • Split Call: filming starts later in the day and continues into the evening or night.

Before your work date, you'll be notified whether you're booked for a Day Shoot, Night Shoot, or Split Call. Your specific call time and filming details will be provided in your Call Info Email, typically the day before filming.

Because filming schedules can change throughout the day, plan to keep your entire day (or night) available. Even if your estimated wrap time is provided, production may finish earlier or later than expected.

Whenever you accept a booking, you should be prepared to remain on set for the duration of filming until you are officially wrapped by production.
